Ronald William Howard was born in Duncan on March 1, 1954. He is the oldest child of actor Jean Speegle Howard, director, writer, and actor Rance Howard.
The family moved to Hollywood, California, in 1958, where they lived for at least three years until moving to Burbank. After graduating from John Burroughs High School, he enrolled at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. But in the end, he was unable to complete his college education.
At the age of five, Howard started working in the entertainment industry. He was the title character’s son for all eight of the show’s seasons.
