On July 29, 1993, in Sulphur, Louisiana, Nathaniel and Peggy Prescot welcomed Rayne Dakota Prescot into the world. Dak’s mother ran a truck stop to provide for the family while he was in school. While a student at Haughton High School, Dak played quarterback for the Buccaneers and guided them to a championship. Dak Prescot, a three-star recruit, received a scholarship to Mississippi State, where he made the first-team all-SEC and took home the Conerly Trophy twice. The Dallas Cowboys chose Dak Prescot as their backup quarterback in the fourth stage of the NFL Draft, 135th overall. Their starting quarterback at the time was Tony Romo. However, as a result of injuries, Dak Prescot rose up the depth chart and made his preseason debut in week three of 2016. Dak’s performance won over the coaches, who maintained him in his position.
Prescot received the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year and AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year trophies. Prescot started all 16 of his games and passed for 3,667 yards and 23 touchdowns.
