The ROG Phone 6 Pro to Prove That Asus Is The Mobile Gaming King?
Without a doubt, the Asus ROG Phone is the great gaming phone. It existed before all the hypocrites, and is still able to finish the race with its combination of great performance, well-thought-out gaming features, cool design, and the Republic of Gamers (ROG) logo.
ROG Phone 6 is the latest on that list, and while we were working on the full review, we were playing games on it. Lots of games, actually. After all, the ability to play is the reason you would want to ROG Phone 6, now what was it like?
What are the features?
Before we get into sports, let’s talk about the phone itself. There are two types: ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro. To test it, we use a different Pro. There are only a few differences between them, especially the upgrade to 18GB of RAM (yes, really) and 512GB of storage space on the ROG Phone 6 Pro. You also get an OLED “ROG Vision” color screen on the back of the phone, instead of a simple color display on the standard ROG Phone 6.
The specific specifications are the same. The ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro both have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, as well as a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen (Samsung’s custom) with 165Hz resolution and an impressive 720Hz touch rate.
Inside is a 6,000mAh battery with two cells, a new cooling system, a new haptic response engine, two Dirac tuned speakers, and Snapdragon Sound support. The camera system uses a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766, as well as a wide angle and a large lens carried from the ROG Phone 5.
Asus is an engineer with an IPX4 impact resistance rating, the first in the ROG Phone series, and has added 65W faster battery charging – taking a large cell from 0% to 100% in 42 minutes. The AirTrigger shoulder buttons are back, this time there are nine different touch control options available. The ROG Phone 6 also has a built-in USB-C port for battery charging, HDMI output, and a list of features that include a new fan installed behind the Aero ACTIVE Cooler with additional buttons for your games.
Playing on ROG Phone 6 Pro is fun
ROG Phone 6 Pro is a great tool. It is at least 10mm thick and weighs 239 grams, making it heavier and larger than the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. This means it feels firm and heavy on your hands, and the curved chassis and tempered glass make it comfortable, while neat rounded corners never dig into the palms of your hands. It is cleverly designed for people who understand how the phone will hold, and a built-in charging port and forward-facing speakers are further proof of this.
The big screen is very responsive. I came from playing Diablo Immortal on the Samsung Galaxy A53, and the ROG Phone 6 Pro felt like a rocket in every aspect later. The screen responds quickly and there is no slight decrease. The graphics are great and are no doubt a great game to play. I used AirTrigger in the same way I had in ROG Phone 5. They make you kill mostly on Diablo Immortal as you can use more than one weapon at a time, and because AirTrigger have a haptic response, using them sounds like a real, visible button.
Using ROG Phone 6 Pro in everything else
This is a great, heavy smartphone with a purpose: To be the best smartphone to play. Does that mean rubbish in everything else, or the pain of daily walking? There is no doubt that size needs to be adjusted. The ROG Phone 6 stretches even the largest package, and every action requires holding the phone in both hands. I’m used to it, but the aspect you’re going to have to make peace with in order to get all the good things in the game.
The screen is beautiful – fast, colorful, and very bright – and the power that Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 brings is great. The Android 12 software comes with the option of using a standard-looking interface, such as the Pixel, or an Asus glossy, science-inspired interface. Use the “normal” option and it’s clean and simple, while the play mode is full of sound and animation. If you like something like that it is fine, but I am very grateful that there is an option to ignore it.
The gaming king is back
Undoubtedly, Asus will keep his crown by making the best, most powerful gaming phone you can buy with ROG Phone 6 or ROG Phone 6 Pro. However, it is not much different from the ROG Phone 5. The design has been modified a bit, now it has a basic IPX4 exposure rating, and you get the latest Qualcomm processor. But other changes are growing or not noticeable, such as cooling improvements and a new haptic response engine.

If you are the owner of ROG Phone 5, especially the Ultimate version, there is nothing here that should make you rush to upgrade. If you are looking at ROG Phone 5 and decided not to buy it, it is unlikely that ROG Phone 6 will do anything to change your mind. It is still the best niche smartphone, the best for one thing in particular – playing games. As long as you want to play games, until you do that seriously or even competitively, you should consider ROG Phone 6 or ROG Phone 6 Pro.
Asus has not yet revealed the price or exact date for the launch of the ROG Phone 6 series yet. Based on ROG Phone 5, it can start at around $ 1,000 on the basic model and grow from there (in addition to the extra charge for the Kunai 3 gamepad device). But even with the high price tag expected, the ROG Phone 6 should stand out as a gaming phone to be hit in 2022.
