The popular Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series is waiting for a long-term renewal. The successor to the current GTA V has been rumored several times, hinting at a 2023 launch. We finally have an official word as game developer Rockstar Games has revealed that it is indeed working on GTA 6 and it will launch soon. Check out the details.
GTA 6 Launch Confirmed
Rockstar Games recently revealed via a blog post that GTA V will be coming to the latest PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. However, that wasn’t the only information that was shared, as it also revealed that the alleged GTA VI (aka GTA 6) is coming soon.
The post read: “Given GTAV’s unprecedented longevity, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we take on, it’s always our goal to go far beyond what we’ve delivered before — and we’re pleased to confirm that active development is well underway on the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series.”
For those who don’t know, GTA V was introduced back in 2013 (and became quite a hit), and since then fans have been anticipating a new addition to the popular trilogy. More details on this are expected to be shared soon.
GTA 6 Expectations
However, we have a few rumors to check out to see what we can expect from the game. The game is speculated to be based in Vice City and South America and set in the 1970s and 1980s. This time we can expect to see more maps and more events in the game. It is expected to have arcade visuals for realistic graphics, and a variety of weapons with different prices may appear.
Famous leakster Tom Henderson expects the game to be released in 2024 or 2025, but we don’t know about that yet. So stay tuned to this space.
We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.
On behalf of our entire team, we thank you all for your support and cannot wait to step into the future with you!

Meanwhile, GTA V and Grand Theft Auto Online will be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S starting March 15. They will come with up to 4K resolution support, up to 60 frames per second, texture and draw distance enhancements, HDR capabilities and ray tracing, and loads more. PS4 and Xbox One users will see some improvements in GTA V and GTA Online. A new version of the online version of the game is also expected to debut on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
First, the story of the game is supposed to take place in Brazil. The story will revolve around twin siblings who are separated from their parents and killed by a cartel in 2003. And in 2023 or 2024, both siblings will meet, but now they are on opposite sides.
The brother works as a DOA agent, which is likely a parody or reference to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). The sister now works for the cartel that killed their parents.
In addition, the game is expected to bring additional maps including nostalgic, Liberty City in GTA Online and Vice City in story mode. Rumor has it that Carcer City and other maps will also be in the game.
As for the release date, there is no official release date to reveal the game. However, pundits have suggested a 2024 or 2025 release timeline.
While all of these leaks sound great, take them with a grain of salt as they have yet to be confirmed by Rockstar.
