A prequel series animated series Spider-Man: First Year is in development, and a new trio from Sony and Marvel Studios may become live-action films. Disney Plus is home to almost the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of his most notable exceptions has always been one of his favorite superheroes: Spider-Man, including his solo appearances on the MCU, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home. However, Sony and Disney, who share the role under a 2015 deal, have announced a new licensing deal. This allows Peter Parker to take his place on the same streaming platform as the rest of The Avengers, and so on.

The multi-year deal will allow Disney’s streaming companies to broadcast titles from Sony’s library, such as Hotel Transylvania and Spider-Man, with offers like Hulu and Disney Plus starting in June. The deal also includes regular television, allowing Disney to broadcast Sony movies on its online networks, such as ABC and FX. Disney’s new releases will run from 2022 to 2026 after initially running on Netflix, which reached a major deal. The financial terms of this contract were not disclosed. The deal makes Sony one of the biggest studios for not reserving their IP for a new dedicated streaming service – so when it’s finally time to air a movie from Morbius or Uncharted, they’ll come to you.
