Amazon’s Truth Seekers, starring Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, Release Date, Cast, Plot and Review.

A horror plus comedy television series, Truth Seekers, is an Amazon Prime original. The well-known duo, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, created the series while staring in it. James Serafinowicz and Nat Saunders lend a hand in the scripting of the series. Criminal’s director, Jim Field Smith, is directing Truth Seekers too. We have seen Nick and Simson in The Shaun of the dead, so the excitement for the duo returning has no bounds. The series hits our screens on the best of times, during spooky Halloween.

Release Date: Truth Seekers

At San Diego Comic-Con@Home in July 2020, Amazon launched the first trailer of the series. On 10 October 2020, the first and second episode of Truth Seeker showed up during Cannes Series Festival. We will get a treat for Halloween, as the series is to release on 30 October 2020 on Amazon Prime. So get some snacks for this Halloween and get ready for it.

Casting and Characters: Truth Seekers

Amazon brings a gleeful cast for the series. We will see Nick Frost as a broadband installer guy named Gus. Gus makes fair use of this tedious job and does some paranormal investigations to find the truth for aspects of life. The personality of Gus seems esoteric. Simon Pegg is now more close to Nick on screen as he plays the role of Gus’ boss, Dave. Dave has a mysterious personality which he covers up by being the head of the broadband company. We see Samson Kayo aka Elton, Gus’ partner for paranormal expeditions (Sadly, both of them are amateurs). Malcolm McDowell plays Gus’ father at a ripe old age. Emma D’Arcy, Susie Wokoma and Julian Barratt are playing Astrid, Helen and Dr Peter Tonybee respectively.

Plot: Truth Seekers

The story mainly focuses on horror with the comedy adjacent to it, and it is a perfect mixture of both. The plot revolves around the amateur paranormal expeditions by a group of people. They stream their experiences online, and as they explore, they unravel facts deadly for them. Bunkers, abandoned hospitals and churches are some of the places they visit in the fictional horror-struck city. Their quest to reveal the unknown can bring Armageddon for the humankind.

Reviews: Truth Seekers

The ghost hunting adventure seems a bit lacking to create paranoia among the viewers. We get a few chuckles from Gus’ ageing dad during some critical moments (he makes some really, goofy comments). The layer of darkness in the characters makes it hard for us to find a balance. And the most important thing is that the cliffhangers at the end of each half-hour instalments (duration seems short) do not make you excited for the next episode. All in all, the duo does it best to keep us entertained even if it is not their best work.
